About Online Check-in

What is Online Check-in?
Hertz Online Check-in is an option you can use to help you save time when you arrive.  By signing in now and completing paperwork prior to your arrival, you won’t have to do the extra work when you arrive.  You’ll provide a few details now, such as contact information, driver’s license, and date of birth.  When you arrive, you’ll save time at the counter and minimize the waiting time.

After completing Online Check-in, what do I do upon arrival?
When you arrive, go straight to the Hertz Express counter or Self-Service Express kiosk*, where you’ll take care of final details.  And you’re on your way.  Even if there’s no Express counter or kiosk, you’ll still save time because there will be little paperwork to do.

What information do I need to provide?
You’ll provide just a few details, such as contact information, driver’s license information, and date of birth.

When can I do the Online Check-in?
There’s no need to wait 24 hours prior to arrival to process online check-in.  At any time before your rental, you can check in online at hertz.com and input your information.

What if I’m a Hertz Gold member?
There’s no need for online check-in, because you’re already picking the fastest option possible.  As you know, you arrive and go straight to your car!  If you’re not a Hertz Gold member, you might consider joining and enjoying the benefits.

Is Online Check-in available if my trip was booked through a travel agent?
Yes.  Online check-in is available regardless of how you booked your reservation (some tour and prepaid programs excluded).

At which rental locations is Online Check-in offered?
Hertz now offers online check-in on hertz.com for rentals at all corporate locations in the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and St. Thomas.

What are the exceptions to those who may utilize Online Check-In?
• Using an Applicant Program #1 Club Number
• Original rate booked cannot be confirmed on hertz.com
• #1 Club Gold customers who have enrolled in Gold, but not yet completed their first rental (the first rental requires processing at the actual Hertz counter)
• Pickup location is not bookable on hertz.com
• Renters under 21 years of age
• Guarantee Program rentals
• VT is on Request or has Special Conditions
• The vehicle or rate is offsell
• Rental has been booked with the Hertz Bereavement CD number

Important:  Online check-in at www.hertz.com is required to be eligible for the 10 minute guarantee.   Valid at many major U.S. airports for customers who use Express counters or kiosks (see participating locations below).  Credit applied to current or future rental only and no cash payments will be made.  Program is subject to modification or termination by Hertz.   No credits will be issued for tour or prepaid rentals. Online Check-In is not available for tour or prepaid retail reservations.
